OUR VISION is to be the leading provider of pre-primary education in our area.

To achieve this, we lay foundations that will help formal education flourish. Literacy comes easily to children who have developed the important basic skills during the first six years of their lives. We provide appropriate holistic education, in a secure Christian environment, that caters for every facet of your child’s development, including:

* Gross motor co-ordination
* Fine muscle control
* Emotional maturity
* Social integration
* Perceptual and cognitive skills

At Lynnwood Ridge Pre-Primary, highly qualified and experienced teachers work together with you, the parent, to provide your child with a solid base for future success. We produce happy, confident children, able to easily adapt to routine and discipline and very well prepared for primary school.

BACKGROUND

Lynnwood Ridge Pre-Primary is a non-profit organisation, controlled by a management board elected from the parents of children currently attending the school, and offering a non-denominational Christian-based, English medium education.

The school was established in Lynnwood over 40 years ago – a strong testimony to our ability to provide quality pre-school education. This has enabled us to build up a strong sense of tradition as well as an extensive collection of puzzles, perceptual games and books that are so important for children’s cognitive development.

The school moved into new, modern, purpose-designed premises in July 2004, situated in the safe, secure and well managed grounds of an established church in Lynnwood Ridge. A security guard at the main entrance as well as a closed circuit camera provides the school with the necessary access control

CURRICULUM

All our activities are theme orientated and incorporate the important developmental skills and milestones. Children are invited to contribute to the various themes by bringing pictures, books, stories and articles for the interest table.

Our daily programme is made up of perceptual activities, Bible stories and prayers, theme and weather discussions, news, rhymes, music, movement, art, free play and stories.

Our younger children enjoy a physically and intellectually stimulating day, with activities carefully planned to suit each stage of development. Emotional needs are also catered for, with our experienced teachers working in conjunction with parents to lead all our children towards emotional independence.

Our Grade R programme is based on the current national curriculum of the Department of Education, which covers the three main learning areas – Maths, Literacy and Life skills. We enhance these learning experiences and work towards school readiness by paying particular attention to developmental milestones.

Informative visits and shows are also theme related and are arranged at least once each term. These costs are covered by the school fees.
